Moving Households = No Fun!

As of last Saturday, ALL of our belongings are officially ON our property. Have we gone through even half the boxes yet? Not even close. Our new (new to us) three car garage is 90% full of boxes and other miscellaneous items.

I have taken some videos at our new home but haven't had time to process them. There's videos of our six chickens with some nice egg collecting and a quick video of my attempting to lasso our German Shepherd who keeps getting free of her colar. I'll have to post from home as the Blogger Composer doesn't appear to be letting me access the WYIWIG editor. I am typing this in the HTML page which is a huge pain in the butt if you know html.

My apologies for the lack of posts lately. I'm adjusting to working days after years (like ten years) of working the overnight shift. Also, when folks leave me comments, it used to get forwarded to my cell phone. That appears to have stopped for some reason. A good friend (Hi Allison!) notified me that there were comments here that I was unaware of. More good news: Wifey has asked to start blogging on here too. She'll be able to add great content on all the cool stuff she does around the homestead.

Take care all. Be back soon.

    1. No worries. Had tons of time to post in Oklahoma because my whole family was in Arizona at the time. Now, the crumb crunchers are on me as soon as I step out of the Jeep after work. LoL.

  5. You guys don't really know what you are doing...homesteading-wise. Even in your Oklahoma posts you gave out a lot of wrong information. Please, be careful to stress in future posts that you are newbies and that these are your first tries at things. People who don't already know what to do and how to do it can potentially get hurt if they think you are knowledgeable homesteaders. I won't be back because I am looking for deeper information from those who have "been there-done that". Good luck.

  6. Sounds like life has taken a turn back to how things were before or better. Three car garage! Woohoo. Well the hardships for you seem to have been small. I am happy to read of that and I pray that you and yours take some time to appreciate that this could have been a wakeup for you all. Prepare, study, learn how to live on less, when you have a good wage. Oh and the homeschooling part...there is no way I would place the kids in a public school...and after your family's experience, I pray you all jump out of the system. It can be done.

Best of continued success to you and yours.

  7. I'd like to answer the snide note from anonymous above. Those who have been there-done that, have moved on to other things, so won't be telling you how to start up. If you're looking for that kind of information, a blog isn't the place, books are. And I suggest you be more patient with people who are in the learning process.

  9. I am most interested in @OrangeJeepDad 's learning process, as we are looking to do the same...I also have other resources that I rely on, not just one. So in his defense, I am enjoying his journey and glad that he and his family are safe and well and on their journey. He knows things I don't, and I know things he doesnt. If we can help each other on our journeys, so be it. Anon, you raise a good point of them being newbies, but WTH, we are here to help each other, aren't we?

  10. I have to agree with Trailshome... If people are looking to a blog for "deeper information from those who have "been there-done that"..." look other places than blogs! Personally, I love getting to read your blog OJD. Your humor is outstanding and stories are wonderful. You seem like the kind of guy I could spend a few hours on a boat with drowning worms... Keep up the good work and welcome back! It'll be good to hear from Wifey!!!
