Deal Alert: 4000w Champion Generator $334.99 delivered @ Cabella's

Champion 3500w, 4000w peak Generator
We all know the importance of a backup generator. Here in Arizona, I'm just waiting for the next August brown-out due to the heavy load all our citizens (and illegal aliens) are going to put on the grid as soon as the ever-so-predictable heat wave hits.

I've blogged before about how I use Alert emails with deal-posting websites to notify me instantly when items on my Wish List are available.  One just popped up so I'm passing the alert on to you. Unfortunately, it isn't in my budget right now.

Cabela's Champion 3,500-Watt Generator Weekender Package $334.99 delivered.

http://www.cabelas.com/ This feature-packed generator delivers 3,500 running watts and up to 4,000 peak watts. Receptacles include a 30-amp, 120-volt twist-lock; one 30-amp, 120-volt RV receptacle; and a 20-amp, 120-volt. Push-to-reset circuit breakers. Single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled engine with recoil start and low-oil shut-off. 1"-diameter tubular steel frame. Includes oil funnel, spark arrester and spark-plug wrench. One-year limited warranty.

Weight: 100 lbs.

There are plenty of excellent reviews on this generator both at the Cabela's page linked above and Amazon (who is selling this generator for $327.00 + $57.49 shipping fee).
I don't trust the Amazon description saying "generator can run lights, TV, refrigerator and sump pump all at the same time." I've read too many reviews over the past two years to believe this statement. Maybe if you're running a "dorm" fridge (mini fridge) but I doubt it.

If you're in the market for a nice, reliable backup generator (and not trying to power an entire house (dryer, full size fridge, microwave, etc) then THIS is the generator for you.
Let me know what you think.

  1. you would think that it would have a 220 volt receptacle. I had one that looked like that one and had a 220 port. Need 220 to run the pump on my water well. Need one to replace it.

  2. @Dizzy That's a good point. You need a 220 if you're going to run a big fridge or well pump. Probably not so good with certain microwaves and other heating appliances (curling irons, clothing iron, etc) Other than those two items, this is a good standby generator.

  3. IF you get an appropriate power conditioner, you probably could run those items, as both contain computer chips which are, of course, sensitive to "dirty" electricity and power surges.

All your "camera" equipment you use at your hospital is most likely set up on them in case you are ever forced to run off your back-up generators.

  4. @Matt Unfortunately, about the only thing I know about electricity is: turn off the power BEFORE working on anything electrical.

  5. If you have a Tractor Supply Company (TSC) near you, they usually run 329.99 + tax. I bought one for my parents last year during the storms and they love it. They run a fridge, a few lights, and a CPAT/O2 generator with it.

  6. PS-I bought an RV to 3 prong grounded adapter to add another usable plug. These are very cheap on amazon.

  7. hot pepper seeds
Parsley can be moved outside if required and can be transplanted into containers or well dug soil.

  10. Nice review. Great helpful Information on Peak Generator. Thanks for the informative post. You can find out more! Please visit: portable generator reviews

  11. That generator is certainly the most quiet, and best portable generator reviews on gas, but performance and price would certainly knock it out of the top.The inverter style generators are certainly attractive for casual use, their price and low wattage make them not so attractive for emergency use.
